Northampton it is time to step up the plate and support yourself,
your family, your neighbors and your community. We have to
start caring and getting involved to voice our opinions on what we want in our
community, as well as our city. It all starts with the very
people you place in office. Take a good hour and half out of
your evening this coming Tues, March 2 and come on out at 7 p.m. to the Leagues
second forum at Northampton Community Center. This forum is
presenting many of the candidates for City Council. You have
a choice, start now. Bring someone with you and start
talking in your neighborhood, and become proactive. We have to
save the cows at Blue Gap Farm.
How? By not losing the Farm to Budget cuts.

This meeting will be devoted to the community to present the second Forum
of the year. Candidates for City Council will speak and answers questions.
Come out to listen to them, share concerns and tell others about the
forum so that they will attend. Your opportunity to be

Every Morning if you are going down I-64 East and
look over to your right at Blue Gap Farm you will see the cows under the trees.
Tails wagging and reminding you of what a wholesome day can be like even in the
city. You go closer and the whole animal and garden village will open up to
you. Do you want to give all that up? Of course there are many other things
you probably do not want to give up either, but you need to come on out and get
involve and start to make a difference.

& 400th Celebration Grant Program. Grants for entryway
Improvements or decorative enhancements, or community/school history
projects. More than $12, 000 in matching grants for community projects, and
$1,000.00 per neighborhood per project. You have to get
your application in early. Applications will only be
considered as long as funds are available. Applications available at

2010 Unity Awards Program. Recognizes individuals, initiatives,
organizations and businesses that have had a positive impact on racial and
cultural diversity in the city of Hampton. Applications and more

Bethel Temple Church has established a community Service Award to
recognize and honor outstanding individuals and organizations that have made
valuable contributions to changing lives in the Hampton Roads community.

barrel is a 50-55
gallon plastic olive or pickle barrel, so please make sure
you have a vehicle with
sufficient cargo capacity to carry it home after the
workshop.

Development Corporation Board of Directors has coordinated five
Educational Neighborhood forums to be held at the Kenneth Wallace
Center for 2010. Topics throughout the year will be on Home
Security, Gang Awareness, Child Safety, Neighborhood Watch, Identity
Theft and Holiday Safety. Each educational forum will be presented
by members of the Hampton Police Division. The first educational
forum will be on the topic of * Home Security *.

for Lips, is about self discovery in young people.
* A performance of the play, "The Montgomery Bus Boycott," by the West
Hampton Community Center Innertainers, a youth drama group. Contact

On Thursday of this week, Greater Richmond Convention Center hosted a
conference on post – combat stress and traumatic brain injury. This was the
2010 Virginia is for Heroes Conference sponsored by the Virginia Warrior

with a test session set for Mar 6. We are taking Feb 6 off.
Classes are held at the Northampton Church of Christ, 1409 Todd’s Lane which
is between Davis Middle School and Big Bethel Rd. The classes are free but
you need the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual ISBN 0-87259-963-9. The material
was updated July 2006 so make sure any book you have is the first edition,
fifth printing. Some earlier versions are usable, just contact me first to
confirm. It is available for about $25 at the following sources: Locally at

is President of the Northampton Pool Association and attended the February
league meeting. The association is home to the championship
Northampton Marlins. One of the best swim teams around.
The association in Northampton has one of the largest swimming pools in
Hampton and also provides discounts to the Hampton Police Dept, Fire Dept and
active military. If you know of any qualifying youth, you
may want to recommend them to the association. You, your family or another
family may want to join to include swimming as fitness in your lives.

Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) opened in downtown Hampton with select
basic vehicle transactions. The office hours are 8:30
a.m. – 4:30 p.m... Located in the offices of the
Commissioner of the Revenue and Treasure at 1 Franklin St. Some
transactions: Processing vehicle registrations, titles, handicapped parking
placards license plate orders and dealer title and registration
transactions.

Consolidation Forum. Spratley Middle school – 339 Woodland Road, 6:30 p.m. –
8:30 p.m. Obtain citizen’s feedback on proposal to repurpose Spratley to a
gifted center. Relocating the Jones Middle gifted
program students into the Spratley Middle building for a substantial cost
savings. Part of the School Boards efforts to reduce its current operating

Both organizations will be partnering in some initiatives this year.

eye glasses and selling brooms? Salute Harold for all of the
wonderful contributions he has been making and continues to make to our
community.

- lets take a proactive role in the celebration of our town's 400th
Anniversary. Go up in that attic, shake off a few cob wells and get old
pictures, paperwork of interest, and other items that take us back in time right
here in Hampton. Talk to neighbors and others that you know have been around
Hampton for some time. Collect some good stories and maybe copy some pictures.

Educational
Neighborhood Forum on Home Security. The Kenneth Wallace Community
Development Corporation Board of Directors has coordinated five
Educational Neighborhood forums to be held at the Kenneth Wallace
Center for 2010. Topics throughout the year will be on Home
Security, Gang Awareness, Child Safety, Neighborhood Watch, Identity
Theft and Holiday Safety. Each educational forum will be presented
by members of the Hampton Police Division. The first educational
forum will be on the topic of * Home Security *.

Hampton Police Division Media Release-Hampton Crime Rate
Drops Over the Past 5 Years.
The Hampton Police Division is pleased to report that crime
has gone down in the city over the past 5 years. The
statistics reflect a -18% drop in Violent Crime from 2005 to
2009 and Part 1 Crimes (major crime) are down-3.
Additionally, overall crime in the city has also been
reduced over the past 5 years and we are committed to

The Hampton Master Gardeners and the Hampton
Clean City Commission are partners in bringing the
much-acclaimed rain barrel workshops to Hampton for the
third year.
YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND - contact Cris Ausink at

All workshops will be held at Blue Bird Gap Farm - 60
Pine Chapel Rd., Hampton in
the feeding shed behind the tower with the Blue Bird on
it.
The workshops are rain or shine. Please bring $40 in
cash or a check made out to
Hampton Master Gardeners, a lock or crescent wrench, a
flashlight, and work gloves.
We provide the pre-drilled barrel, and all the hardware.
The barrel is a 50-55
gallon plastic olive or pickle barrel, so please make
sure you have a vehicle with
sufficient cargo capacity to carry it home after the
workshop.

The U.S. Air Force's Tops In Blue
is offering a free night of family entertainment
at the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Tops In Blue will be presenting "To Dream," an action-packed performance of
music and dance featuring Latin sounds, country music, and pop hits, as well
as songs from popular movies and Broadway shows.
Tops In Blue features the "best of the best" of military talent, with
members from 15 U.S. states and several overseas military bases. The group
will visit more than 120 locations in the U.S. and 25 foreign countries
during the tour, continuing a 56-year tradition of performing at all U.S.
military bases. All are welcome to enjoy a free night of entertainment! For

session set for Mar 6. We are taking Feb 6 off.
Classes are held at the Northampton Church of Christ, 1409 Todd’s Lane which
is between Davis Middle School and Big Bethel Rd. The classes are free but
you need the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual ISBN 0-87259-963-9. The material
was updated July 2006 so make sure any book you have is the first edition,
fifth printing. Some earlier versions are usable, just contact me first to
confirm. It is available for about $25 at the following sources: Locally at
